June 17, 2009:
Chateau Grrr is now tweeting on Twitter! In addition to the monthly newsletter, and this update area, you can now keep up with the latest site uploads and Chateau employee shenanigans on your wireless!!
May 31, 2009:
Hello my dear Guests! It’s been a long while. Your favorite vaporous Mister Mist just experienced an Internet black-out after quarreling with first Comcast, then AT&T, finally settling with the new but surprisingly together Cricket. And for twenty dollars less a month!
Still a few small bugs with the our new lobby. They’ll be cleared up soon. Also expect a tremendous improvement in the Merchants > Attractions section. The haunted attractions will be searchable by zip code and radius.
May 4, 2009:
Welcome my dear Guests! I am happy to present to you our newly renovated lobby! All of your favorite content is still available in the drop-down menus above. There are still a few pesky bugs we're squashing, but very soon, the new menu will be available in all sections of the Chateau.
Also check out all the new Haunted Attraction listings. CryptKicker attended the incredible HAuNTcon this past weekend and will have a full report soon. Many haunted attraction owners and operators listed their attractions. Be sure to check back in the Fall for more updates!
April 26, 2009:
Hello Guests! It has been too long since I have given you an update. Please stop by and visit our latest Featured Guest, Geoff Harkness. Geoff is a documentary filmmaker responsible for National Vampire.
April 3, 2009:
Hello dear Guests! It is with great pleasure I introduce the art of Dick Starr to the menagerie of Chateau Grrr postcards! Please take a moment to check-in and send one to a friend!
We also have Easter rapidly approaching. Our team of inappropriate postcard makers are busy like bunnies making all sorts of fun and tasteless Easter greetings for your enjoyment!!
Massive renovations are still underway. Expect to see some BIG differences to the site by June when we’ll celebrate our Grand Re-Opening!!
March 11, 2009:
Renovation to the Cryptopedia has been completed!
Please stop by and take a look at the sleek informative encyclopedia of cryptids!
If there's a cryptid you'd like more information about, please just write and let me know.
Mister Mist
March 3, 2009:
Hello dear Guests. I apologize for my extended absence. Things are quiet here at Chateau Grrr while we begin a massive renovation. Things will soon look much different, hopefully much more enjoyable for you. We'll still be bringing you fun content as we renovate. Our next Featured Guest is vampire expert, Martin Riccardo! Keep an eye out for this fangs-tastic interview early next week.
Looking forward to bringing you a streamlined new experience soon,
Mister Mist
February 18, 2009:
Hello esteemed Guests!
The new Cryptocards section is off to a good start with several humorous cryptid entries. When it's facts you want, head to the Cryptopedia... when it's laughs you need, turn to the Cryptocards. Send an inside cryptid joke to a friend, or a conspirator!!
Don't forget that Patient Zero, a Joe Ledger novel by Jonathan Maberry, comes out in just a few more weeks on March 3rd! Check out Jonathan's Featured Guest article for more details and links.
While Lazarus is missing and assumed in love, our good friend Mr. Grey Vjaardspuk has kindly provided us a review of the recently released remake of Friday the 13th. Remember you're welcome to leave your own thoughts on the movie reviews. Have you seen the movie? Do you agree with the lowly two-star rating? Be heard!
February 11, 2009:
Hello, my dear Guests! Please take a moment to visit our first sponsor, Dimension Extreme, by clicking the "sponsors" tab in our sleek new menu! Thank you for your support of Chateau Grrr!!
February 9, 2009:
As promised, the site now has a new look. There are still a few bugs to be squished, but things should start to look and feel much more organized. Many thanks to the wonderful team at iToris for their continued excellence in coding. If you have any web needs, I can strongly recommend them for fast high-quality, cost-effective work.
CryptKicker has submitted his review of the Chicago Twilight event. Please see his journal for the full review.
We now have a links section! Please submit your links for approval in the General Links section and pick up a Chateau Grrr link to post on your website today!
I am proud to introduce the Body Art section of Chateau Grrr. If you are or know any tattoo artists, please post your wares for free in the Body Art section.
Both the Haunted Attractions and Fangs section now have their own galleries. Load up those posts with pictures and let folks see what you have to offer!
Lazarus has sent apologies for being late with his reviews. He’s promised some very soon and mumbled something about meeting a special lady. This came as quite a shock since the last woman he talked about was a chess club captain with a 132 IQ and a big chess club brain.
February 2, 2009:
Exciting news, my dear Guests; exciting news indeed!!
Very soon, Chateau Grrr will have a complete visual overhaul. Expect things to be much easier to navigate and find what you’re looking for. This front page will be less muddled and much more interesting! You’ll also notice that our generous sponsors will be given space on the site, but know that I will never allow ads to clutter your experience. Ads will always be neatly out of the way of content, allowing you to navigate the Chateau as easily as ever. This change should occur within the next two weeks.
The skeletal and spritely art of Misty Benson, creator of Skellies, will very shortly be featured as ecards available exclusively through Chateau Grrr. If you enjoy the ecards, let us know and we’ll expand the selections. Look for Misty Benson Ecards early next week.
CryptKicker, our roving vampiric reporter, will feel quite at home this weekend while attending the Chicago Twilight event. Aside from a horde of Twilight fans, there will also be a fangsmith on site and several vampire-culture authors and documentarians. Don’t miss this show if you’re in the area!
Whether spent at work, at home, at school, or at play, may your week be relaxing and wonderful.
January 26, 2009:
Congratulations Fragile Shut-In!! You are our winner of the $20 gift card to Starbucks for simply writing Dear TimSeth a question! And what a question! Hope his answer is enlightening.
If you need advice from someone other than your cloistered aunt or your prudish best friend, check out Dear TimSeth; he's got some pretty sound advice for a psychotic sociopath.
January 25, 2009:
It's contest time!! The next Guest to ask Dear TimSeth a question will win a $20 Starbucks giftcard! The contest has begun at 10:45pm CST. Be sure to click the image to the left for all the details.
January 25, 2009:
Hello dear Guests! At the request of 666GOREHOUND666, Lazarus has reviewed Braindead (also known as Dead Alive). I believe some time in the future, we'll be exploring a revamp of the movie review system that allows guests to cast their vote separately from Lazarus so two ratings appear. Would that be more fun? Let me know and we’ll make it happen!
I’d like to take a moment to recognize the tremendous work our friends at iToris continue to do for Chateau Grrr. This site would not be what it is today without their diligence, pride, and honesty. Should you ever need a web page designed or developed, please contact them for a very reasonable estimate.
January 21, 2009:
Hello dear Guests! Celebrating kept me away from the Chateau yesterday, but I hope your Day of New Hope was wonderful. It is with tremendous excitement that I tell you about our new email notification system. You'll now receive an email notification when you receive messages and comments through Chateau Grrr. This feature is active by default, but can be controlled through your profile settings.
We may now also sort user profiles by "last online" to see who your neighbors are that frequent Chateau Grrr. Thank you very much to our Guest LissaTeka for this wonderful suggestion.
If you know of any fang-makers in Florida, please point them to Chateau Grrr or send me a link to their site; I have business prospects for them.
January 18, 2009:
CryptKicker has submitted his review of the Horror Society's B-Movie Madness held last night. Please visit his journal to read about it if you missed it. You may wish to attend the next event!
January 17, 2009:
Hello All. Our roving vampiric ambassador, CryptKicker, will be attending the Horror Society's B-Movie Marathon today. Be sure to read his review in the next few days. The gang from Better Off Undead will be at the event to screen their hilarious movie. And CryptKicker will have Chateau Grrr bookmarks available to anyone that enjoys a good book!
January 14, 2009:
A happy mid-week to you, my dear Guests. We've had a wave of new Guests join us, among which is Don of the Dead of Crypticon fame, and Patti Starr of ScareFest. Take a moment to peruse the profiles of these two enthralling individuals and get to know them.
If you aren’t aware, clicking the top logo banner of this front page will take you directly to the listing of current Guests, and you can always sort or search Guests in a number of ways.
If you have any suggestions of fascinating individuals you'd like to see interviewed as a Featured Guest, please let me know.
January 11, 2009:
Hello my dear Guests! A happy new week to you all!
In the spotlight tonight, let us welcome our new Featured Guest, Nick "Count" Kaufman! Please stop by the interview to check out the behind-the-scenes of one of the best horror conventions ever, the Crypticon!! Feel free to leave your comments about the interview.
Next up, Lazarus has wired in his latest movie review at my behest, this one of the freshly released The Unborn. I wouldn't expect too many more opening weekend reviews though; it sounds unpleasant for all involved.
On the advice column front, TimSeth is still awaiting questions and concerns to which he can apply his special brand of insanity and advice. Don't be shy, write him about anything troubling you!
There are a few new games in the Party Ideas section. They can be adapted for any occasion. Give them a try and leave your feedback.
I wish you a terrific week!
Mister Mist
January 6, 2009:
Lots of exciting news! First, thanks to iToris for fixing our registration problem. If you're new to the site, please take a moment to register.
Next up, our very own advice columnist, Dear TimSeth, is on the job. If you have a problem you'd like a bit of help with, just write TimSeth; he's sure to give you some interesting advice.
Lazarus has finally posted some images in his gallery. Check the old geezer out and leave him some mail. He loves it.
There's plenty of new art in the Cryptopedia including a great drawing from the childhood of master monster sculpter, Bill Gudmundson.
New cemetery postcards are available in our ecard section, with more on the way nearly every day. These postcards are from Seattle Washington.
Finally, our next Featured Guest is Nick "Count" Kaufman of Cryptid Magazine and the Crypticon horror convention! The interview will post this Friday. Be sure to check it out and leave some comments!
January 6, 2009:
My deepest apologies, friends. There is an issue with the registration verification that is taking far longer to clear up than expected. Unfortunately, no new guests may register until this has been resolved. If you are trying to register, thank you for your patience and please check back shortly.
January 3, 2009:
Hello my dear Guests! How were your New Year's Eve celebrations? Please leave me a message and let me know you survived!
I'm hesitant to mention it, but Lazarus has posted a review of John Carpenter's Halloween. A big fan of Halloween? You might do well to read Craigslist instead then as this is no pleasant review.
We're also experiencing some difficulties with uploading images at the moment. Please forgive this interruption. Everything will be back to good soon.
December 31, 2008:
On this eve of the new year, I wish you all peace and prosperity!
Lazarus has posted a review of 30 Days of Night in the movie review section.
Our roving vampiric ambassador, CryptKicker, has posted a journal entry chronicling his recent journey to Seattle during which he visited several intriguing Goth venues.
Happy New Year, my dear Guests!!
December 23, 2008:
Appropriate for this day when the whole world seems cold and snow-bound, our phenomenal new cryptozoology research writer, Sam LaPena, has posted her Yeti entry, available for viewing in the Cryptopedia.
Stop by and learn a thing or two about the Abominable Snowman!
Artists, you’re welcome to submit your interpretations of the Yeti in a 550px wide by 350px tall format (jpg, gif, or png). Your art and name will be displayed on the entry page, and a link will be provided to your website!
December 21, 2008:
Happy Winter Solstice!! Enjoy your longest night of the year. Spread some Solstice happiness by sending a Solstice ecard from the Winter Holiday section.
December 19, 2008:
Excellent news! Count Kaufman of the Crypticon was kind enough to allow me an interview for our next Featured Guest spot. Look for this interview in early January of our new year.
December 16, 2008:
More holiday greetings have been added to the ecard section. Just in time for the Winter Solstice on Sunday, December 21st, a Winter Solstice greeting has been suggested by Guest Tlinbo and created by Chateau Grrr. And a winter wish for a hot holiday has also been added.
Be sure to make those suggestions all over the site! They are heard.
December 12, 2008:
MESSAGING!! We now have messaging between Guests! Check-in and give it a try!! Thank you, iToris!
Hallelujah! Our Lazarus has returned to once more, and perhaps even a little less cranky. He submitted his review of the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead this morning after a good long steam. Read! Comment!! Enjoy!!!
December 11, 2008:
Hello my dear Guests! Please welcome horror author and martial arts expert Mr. Jonathan Maberry as our Featured Guest! And don't forget that you're always welcome to share your thoughts on the exclusive interview in the "comments" section.
December 7, 2008:
I am disappointed to report that Lazarus is still on hiatus, but it is my honor to bring you the latest movie review of Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed. Please take a moment to read it and leave your comments!
December 6, 2008:
Even more ecards have been added to our growing repertoire of greetings!
Check the Christmas section for more holiday options and look for the new Cemetery Postcards section for original photographic postcards of cemeteries around the world!
December 2, 2008:
Check the ecard section for some new custom-made Chateau Grrr greetings!!
November 28, 2008:
Lazarus is on a short sabbatical, so I have filled in for him during his absence. I've posted my review of the Bride of Frankenstein. Please remember as you read that reviews are not my strong suit. Lazarus is missed.
There are so many new little tweaks that have happened recently. Photos now include captions! iToris is seeking a solution for mass photo uploads, but it is looking grim for Firefox.
Journals and all posts will now accept links. These must be properly formatted HTML links that open a blank page. Please see the Help section for a sample of how to add links to your posts.
The rating system has a new look that jives with the rest of the site.
And finally, comments to comments may now be added. Get in there, read some posts, and add your thoughts!!
November 27, 2008:
Happy Thanksgiving to All!
November 27, 2008:
The amazing artist, Bruno Werneck, has just contributed several breath-taking paintings for the Cryptopedia. Be sure to check them out, particularly the haunting Mothman piece.
For more spectacular art, visit Bruno's site by clicking on his name just below the image caption.
November 23, 2008:
Our roving vampiric ambassador, CryptKicker, visited Crypticon last weekend and has (finally) submitted his report.
Check his journal and gallery for thoughts and photos from the Crypticon featuring Doug Jones, John Kassir, and Chris Sarandon.
Links are not currently working in journal entries; my apologies. These will be working shortly. Take the opportunity to see how links should be input in HTML if you're unfamiliar with it.
Captions are now available in the Gallery section. Put words to the images of your life!
Have an ailing friend? Send them one of our new Get Well ecards available in the Ecards section!
November 21, 2008:
Kahloo kahlay!! The registration process has been completely overhauled. To those of you who have already registered, I thank you for persevering through what was a mildly painful process. To those of you considering registration, it's now fun and easy!! Next up...the ability to communicate one with another. Enjoy your November!!
In addition to the new registration process, Lazarus has posted his review of the movie, The Grudge, and given it his lowest rating yet!
November 13, 2008:
Our dear friend Lazarus has submitted his most recent movie review, this one of Hostel. Be sure to stop in and check it out.
November 11, 2008:
At last, our first interview with Featured Guest Rosemary Ellen Guiley is ready for your enjoyment. Please be patient; there are some bugs that cause the page to load slowly. These will be ironed out in short order by our ever-crafty friends at iToris. Please enjoy the interview and make sure to visit Rosemary's site, visionaryliving.com, for more information on upcoming lectures and appearances.
November 4, 2008, Election Day:
If you live in the United States of America and have not yet done so, PLEASE get out and vote!
October 31, 2008, Hallowe'en :
Let me be the first to wish you a very happy Hallowe'en, my dear friends! I have received word from the wonderful iToris that the Featured Guest section is nearly complete. My chat with the amazingly articulate Rosemary Ellen Guiley will be up soon!
In other news, our cantankerous friend Lazarus has posted his Hallowe'en movie review of A Nightmare on Elm Street. Please pay the Movie Review section a visit and leave a comment for our zombie-critic.
Thank you to all of you guests who have taken the time to share your ideas with everyone here at Chateau Grrr. Your time is greatly appreciated.
Have an enjoyable holiday!!
Mister Mist
October 29, 2008:
Coming up soon! Comments upon comments! When you post a comment, someone will soon be able to comment upon your comment.
October 26, 2008:
Check out the recent posts in recipes and decor! And be sure to post your own ideas too!! Share your ideas on recipes, party games, decoration tips, and anything else you've found helpful during the Hallowe'en holiday!!
October 23, 2008:
Lazarus' most recent review has been posted in the Movie Reviews section, and our first Featured Guest, Rosemary Ellen Guiley, did a lovely interview last night for us. This will be posted near the end of October, hopefully just in time for Hallowe'en. Hope everyone has their costume selected!
October 16, 2008:
Hello dear Guest. Let me tell you about some exciting new features for Chateau Grrr on the horizon. Very soon, there will be a Featured Guest section, highlighting folks of interest to the community. Our first Featured Guest will be Rosemary Ellen Guiley, the First Lady of the Paranormal. Look for this exciting interview late October.
Next up will be an internal email system so Guests can write each other. On the heels of this will be the Hordes feature (the ability to create groups of Guests, share group photos, and email an entire group of Guests).
October 15, 2008:
I am pleased to announce that Lazarus' movie review section is now operational. My sincere apologies for the delay. Please enjoy my dear undead friend's comments on the horror genre, starting with the classic (and possibly only positive review) Nosferatu.
October 6, 2008:
Welcome All! It's so lovely to see so many wonderful people here already. Now let's start posting and sharing those ideas! I know you each have much better ideas than I.
Chateau Grrr emails are now functioning and it's not long before Lazarus' reviews are also up and running. Be warned; he's a curmudgeon.
October 4, 2008:
While not all features are up and running, the core of Chateau Grrr is functional and stable. You'll notice that email addresses leading to Chateau Grrr are not currently functioning nor can we yet enjoy Lazarus' excellent movie reviews, but these issues will be resolved shortly. Until then, please enjoy all the other features of our little Gothic Get-Away.
October 3, 2008:
Thanks to the terrific efforts of the folks at iToris and SingleHop, Chateau Grrr is undead and loving it. Please visit the registration area and sign-up for your free Chateau Grrr account!
October 3, 2008:
Happy Witching Hour to All!! Chateau Grrr is open; however, you'll have to excuse several bugs, the largest of which is the Registration Page is not working. This and other bugs will be corrected very shortly. Thanks for your patience.
September 15, 2008:
Chateau Grrr is set to open on Friday the 3rd of October. If you've found this page before this date, please feel free to look around, but please do not yet register.
Chateau Grrr proprietor, Mister Mist, is quite excited at the prospect of the early October launch. The wonderful iToris is to be thanked for the smoothly functioning features!
