The second stop on our chicago haunt 2010. It started off with a corn maze that didn't really have to much to it and was a little to easy as you didn't have to many options. The actual eleventh hour haunt was really good and the second one was okay but the last one I believe called intensity many people including myself were just wondering around in the dark until we got a light of a guy saying wrong way. Eventually we found an exit which was in the back not the real exit just a way out.

Of the three haunted houses I visited last Saturday, this was my least favorite. It was decent, but there was a lack of actors at this site. They advertise 4 haunted houses, but there were hardly any actors inside 3 of the 4 attractions. One was a corn maze, which was confusing to get through, but not scary.
There were two attractions which were mazes in the dark basically. There were not many actors in here and my group and I ended up going out an emergency exit that was not marked as such. We missed out on some of the maze.
The haunted house starts out with a guy with a clock drawn in paint on his face telling you about the house. It was more confusing and comical than scary. I think this house is good for families and older children, but not really for haunt enthusiasts who are looking for a good haunt that's actually scary.

Awesome, awesome, awesome. This was my favorite stop from the Chicago Haunted Tours. At first we went through this corn field maze... which seemed like a creepy idea... especially since it was dark out. Took a little while to get through and we had a couple screams along the way which was cool. Before we knew it we were out of it. We thought it was over because it was kind of hard to tell if there was more. We found the other part of the place and it was this creepy old wooden house. Went through that and what i really liked about it was the fact that the whole thing felt like you were in a ride. They would take you from area to area and bring you into the story.
Once we were out of that we ran into some people from our bus that were coming out of an area that we had not been to. So we went there and it turned out to be super creepy. Very dark and we spent the majority of the time lost by ourselves... which i really enjoyed.

On a final note we accidentally walked into one of the backstage rooms and were packed in with one of the actresses. We managed to crack a giggle from her before she pointed us in the right direction.

This was our second haunt and it was my favorite. When Dan interviewed me after the tour, I said I liked all of them, but 11th Hour had a slight edge. After letting it all sink in and settle for a couple of days, I can say it is definitely my fave.

The corn maze at the start was fun. Not too hard of a maze, you aren't going to be stuck out there for long. Then to the first house. The entry was a sort of foyer with an actor playing the part of the, I don't know, MC I guess. He told the story of the house - it was an asylum but was closed down. Some of the inmates stayed behind or returned or something. He was very good, just stern enough to make you pay attention and get you in the mood. As he stood up from the stairway he was sitting on, it raised to reveal the entrance to the first room.

I absolutely loved the room. It was a crazy library with clocks on the walls. The only sound was the ticking of many clocks and the muttering of the girl actor. Very effective. Very nice set decoration detail. We walked through other rooms of the "house" including the laundry and kitchen. Each was interestingly creepy.

I must have lost track of where we were. It must have been the second house, but my favorite scene was the crypt. There were ancient looking skulls everywhere, many embedded in the walls. It's what I would imagine catacombs are like. Gregorian chant was the only other thing you heard throughout, other than the occasional scream or insane mutterings. I loved it.

The outdoor graveyard was terrific. You start walking along a trail and hear the rhythmic sound of a shovel digging, a grave? Then I saw the gravedigger. He was so good, so precise in his movements that I assumed this was an animatronic figure. Then he straightened up and spoke and I was even more impressed.

The black maze was very frustrating. I got separated from my group and got lost. I have to admit it was a little disconcerting. NO, I WASN'T SCARED. But it was frustrating and for the 2 or 3 minutes I was imagining being lost in there for a long, long time with no one ever finding me. But I wasn't scared.

I don't remember where this was exactly, but at the end of one of the houses a truck breaks through the wall. Very well done!

No, the haunt was not too loud. Thank you. A lot of thought and imagination went into this one. I enthusiastically recommend it. This is the only one I would enjoy going to again.

HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! This was our second haunt of the night with the Chicago Haunt Tour 2010. At first, we had to go through a small cornmaze, which I was expecting to have zombies jumping out at me, but there was none. I had read reviews about how people were lost in their for like 30 minutes, but our group found our way out twice within 5 minutes. So we were all like "mmmK, that's all?" so, moving on to the second attraction, it started off strong. There was a guy telling us the creepy story about how it used to be an insane asylum....blah, blah, blah...and then the staircase opened into a room that was a library with a creepy little girl talking to herself. Next, we started going into various rooms, and I was kinda like "okay, any minute this is going to get really great...NOT!" so once again, our group was like "mmmK." Next, we went into the old Mine attraction. This was actually very comical. The entire place was pitch black, and we had nobody to guide us. We were walking through cob webs, going under tarps that we weren't supposed to go under and it appeared that nobody was really working in this attraction. I even said "Does anyone even work here?" It went on for days. I even heard some people say they had to bust through a wall because they couldn't find their way out. This would have been a perfect attraction for a blind person. It was hilarious.

Actor Performance : Mediocre. No one seemed too into their roles or too intense. There were some girls who were really loud screamers which was more annoying than anything. I was not too impressed with the actors. Also, there was an actor shortage. There was only about one guy in the maze and maybe 2 tops in the corn field.

Customer Flow : Poor. We were constantly running into other groups at all of the 4 haunts. The cornfield, the house, and the mazes.

Appropriate Ages : 10 and up.

Props/Special FX : The house is about the coolest attraction for props because it is pretty detailed, especially the first room. However, there are zero props and special effects in the cornfield, and the mazes. It's just dark and you are trying to find your way out.

Costumes/MakeUp : For the most part it is dark so you can't really see anyone's costumes that well. There was little to be impressed about.

Summary : I did not enjoy 11th hour for a multitude of reasons. One, there are hardly any actors. Actors are what help to make a haunt truly intense and scary.
Two, the patron flow was horrible. We were constantly running into other people and the group behind us caught up to us. They did not do a good job seperating the groups which limited the scary atmosphere and your chances of having an actor pop out at you.
Three, in the last "pitch black" maze (it wasn't)... my group was following another group. We went out an exit that wasn't really an exit. There was an exit (probably an emergency one) that wasn't marked as such. So we took it thinking it was the way out. We then had to walk past a quarry and hop over various wooden planks and boards and rocks. My friend tripped as it was very dark and you couldn't see all the debris in th way as we tried to navigate our way back to the car. We weren't the only ones to take this route, as about 20 people thought it was the exit too. Clearly it was not though, as the end of the debris path was blocked with trash cans we had to squeeze past. This is poorly designed and there should have been more actors in the house to ensure that exit was not taken.
Overall, this is a poor bang for your buck haunted attraction. None of the attractions take long to get through at all. I think they greatly exaggerate how long their attraction is. Unless you count waiting in line, this is definately not the longest in the Chicago area!!!

While I enjoyed the majority of this haunt, I had a couple issues with it. Near the end there was what seemed to be 2 areas of total/near total darkness with only one actor involved. I was stuck in there for quite awhile and actually ran into the same actor about 3 times trying to get my way out of it. Those kind of areas are not that fun to me. I perfer seeing the spookily decorated rooms instead. And after finally escaping that area, I came to another area that was some chain link fences making a maze with another actor in it. While he did his best, that area just did nothing for me, especially considering it was the final thing you see. I believe you should always go out with a bang, not a whimper.
All in all, it was an enjoyable haunt.

Definitely good bang for your buck, but believe it or not I was left wanting a little more. The corn maze was awesome, but I wanted more of that maze than the other mazes that followed. We saw the line at the main house, and tried to go to one of the other parts/mazes first, but we were stopped and told we had to go back to the house first. I wished we could have some flexibility in where we could have gone. I did like the actors at Eleventh hour, they seemed to have fun with what they do, and the sets were done very well. The final maze was really crazy-it got old fast. We ended up going out a side employee door to get out.

So if they could have added more corn maze, take away the final maze, and add more to the house itself, it would be really awesome.

I visited Eleventh Hour as part of a one night, 3 haunted attraction outing. Of the three this was the least impressive. It started with our bus driving past the location because there was a lack of signage out front. To be honest, Eleventh Hour had a lot of potential, but seemed as though half of the employees decided not to show up for work. There were times that you expected to see a character and yet didn’t see anyone. There was a whole section where you just wander around in the dark and when I say dark, I mean pitch black. During the wandering there were people that claimed they had been going around in the same circle 6 times, people walking straight into walls, people losing their groups and some meeting up with new groups. There is no separation between the 3rd and 4th sections. We finished the final part of what seemed to be the 3rd section only to be told that was all of it. I would say that if you have young children that want to go to a haunted house and you feel as though it might be too much for them this is the location for you. Happy haunting…

Now this is my kind of haunt. I felt like I got a ton of fun out of my ticket price, and I didn’t go deaf. There’s a fun corn maze out front, a very cheap concession stand on the farm, a haunt that I didn’t go deaf in, and two crazy mazes that are truly puzzling.

My friends and I started our visit to Eleventh Hour in the corn maze. It’s unassuming at the onset and seems like it’ll be easy to wander through the corridors of corn, but it’s really pretty tricky. There are a few surprises tucked into the shadows of the ten-foot stalks, but they seemed to know who to focus on and didn’t bother needlessly getting in my face. Much appreciated.

When we finally managed to make it out of the maze (more difficult than you think even with a lot of other people in the maze), we paused to take some silly photos in the pumpkin patch. A random leaping wood sprite or gnome or goblin (or something) kept careening into our photos and made for the best haunt-photo ever when he was caught on camera in mid-leap completely obscuring anyone and anything I was trying to get. But the outstretched arms and sheer enthusiasm to be captured on film was terrific!

From the maze, we wandered around a corner and found the house-proper. Our tour began with a quick introduction in a gorgeous room by a young actor that didn’t pander, condescend, or over-act. It was a brilliant balance between the usual “I’m in control and will berate you” and “this is a haunt for your entertainment so listen up” speech I’ve ever heard. And it just got better!

The haunting style of Eleventh Hour is unlike that of its peers. I’d even go so far as to say that Eleventh Hour is the “thinking person’s haunt”. It doesn’t rely on a ton of actors, loud noises, or things careening into your face or space. It’s eerily quiet, subdued. The few characters mean lots of time to take in the creepiness and beauty of the sets.

When you do meet an actor, it’s uncomfortable not because they’re trying to hard to scare you, but because they ACT and well. The characters are believable and the set-ups are intriguing. They know that to scare adults is difficult, and we were in fact laughing an jovial. This didn’t frustrate the actors. They didn’t get mad and get closer into our faces. They played along while staying in character and still managed to be creepy.

Sadly, the house wasn’t as long as I wanted it to be. I was enjoying myself so much, I wanted more. But it was a fair amount of time. And once outside, we stumbled onto the next attraction, a barnyard-style maze.

Keep an eye out for the two mazes because there’s no one to really make sure you get there. It’s a fun discovery, but if my group of friends hadn’t caught someone else exiting and asked them if there was more than the house, we might have missed the rest.

The barnyard maze is dark, but also very open. That might sound like a bad plan for a maze, but Eleventh Hour manages a maze that doesn’t feel constrictive (it’s not walking through corridors), and yet it’s very challenging. I have an excellent sense of direction and I got turned-around and had to call out to my friends several times.

This happened in the final maze as well. This one is sort of a mining tunnel maze, but it also allows you to wander through large rooms and get lost in a place you wouldn’t think you could.

All in all, I loved this place. I forgot to pay attention to whether or not Eleventh Hour is family-friendly, but it seemed a great place to me to take the whole family for a night of fun. If the evening starts early enough, I’m sure there’s pumpkin patch things to do as well!
