A Legend Rises
"This ain't your mother's trick-or-treat!" proclaims the Tumbleweed Terror, a brand-new Halloween theme park being erected at the Tumbleweed for weekends in October, on the western edge of Stillwater, OK.
"A Legend Rises" is the theme for this inaugural event, which features eight different attractions, both indoor and outdoor, and involving roughly 100 live actors on Tumbleweed's 80 acres of developed land. Two indoor attractions, The Abyss, a 2,500 feet total-blackout maze, and The Asylum, billed as, "a trip through the fears of your mind", join live musical entertainment by such local horror-themed musical acts Axis, God in a Machine, and Pittersplatter. An optional ticket allows attendees to join in the horrific fun of an "interactive maze" entitled Mortal Tagg, a paintball splatter fest, and $2,000 in prize money await the winners of a costume contest to be held on Oct. 30.
Outdoor activities offer two separate haunted hay rides and two walkthrough attractions: the Trail of Terror, a spin on classic haunts of Payne County, with a scare at least once every minute; The Death House, a ride up to a 2-story apartment complex, which depicts “different ways to die"; The Aftermath is another outdoor option, giving attendees a walk through a horrific landscape in the afterlife.
Tumbleweed Terror will be open every weekend in Oct., for attendees aged 16 and up. Gates will open each evening at 8 PM, one ticket per person for a full evening of horror-based entertainment. An optional ticket will allow participation in the Mortal Tagg event.
"Come face to face with your worst fears as the haunts of Payne County take over the 80 acres you know as the Tumbleweed!"
