Vampires are dead. They don’t respire, nor do they have a metabolism as such. Presumably the internal organs, including the entire digestive system and reproductive organs, are completely nonfunctional. Vampires CANNOT MAKE BABIES in any sort of procreative sense because their gametes (sperm and eggs) are dead. So this begs the question then, how does a vampire do ANYTHING? It moves, it speaks (moving air over vocal cords, though it does not need to breath for respiration) and accomplishes the acts of physical intimacy. The answer is elementary, “because the life of every creature is in the blood” (Leviticus 17:14). “Life,” that mystical magic, derived from blood, is what vampires need to sustain themselves. It is this “vitae,” if you will, that they use to cause dead muscles to contract with superhuman strength, to restore the damage done to otherwise dead flesh and maintain it, and to power all the other magical abilities they possess. The same manipulation of blood that heals a wound and powers the muscles will also reallocate, just as it does in the body of a living male, to engorge the center of manhood for the purpose of physical intimacy. However, just as the ducts of a vampire’s eyes no longer produce lacrima, and blood acts as a substitute, presumably a male vampire's gonads no longer produce ejaculate, so it is reasonable to assume that blood is substituted in this function as well. Human consumption of vampire blood has very potent narcotic effects, among others. Presumably the blood of a vampire’s tears and ejaculate would have the same effects. Also, just as drugs like cocaine can be absorbed though any mucus membrane (e.g. gums, nose, vaginal walls), it stands to reason that “V” can be consumed the same way. So, while you cannot get pregnant from a vampire, you can get high, above and beyond the “natural” pleasure of intercourse. Conclusion: “Vampires do it best!”... |

The one thing I do NOT want to do is reinvent the wheel. If anyone really wanted to learn about vampires in literature, there is an inordinate amout of information out ont he interweb. Most people would simply start with the old standby, Wikipeida (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vampire_literature#History) just like I did. What I wanted to share was that anything written up to and including Stoker's Dracula is in the public domain and, therefore, the full text is available, for free, on line as well. Here I share a compilation of links all in one place.... |
