haunted reviewsoctober 19, 2010 1:32amChronicles of the Cursed: The Sinkhole
While there were definitely some scattered gems throughout, the tour was a lot less Chicago-focused than the website would have you believe.

The scenery was hit or miss, and same could be said of the actors. The few that stood out the most were a broken down housewife sobbing quietly beneath a giant spider, a crawling girl charging at the visitors on all fours, and a fast talking satanic monk. At least they made me care about their characters. Wouldn't call them scary, but eerily intriguing? Definitely. If you don't get turned off by this kind of randomness and don't mind dishing out $20 for a 10 minute walkthrough, it's worth a look... especially after a few Eristoffs.

Speaking of which, I was much more impressed by the grungy, post-apocalyptic atmosphere that the outdoor bar by the entrance unintentionally exuded. Sheltered from above by the highway, yet exposed to the mercy of Windy City skyline's grim October chill, one would be hard pressed to find a more fitting place to enjoy blood tinted concoctions made of fire water hailing from the land of the wolves (that's more or less what the bottle said). In fact, the only thing that kept a barrage of "children of the night" references was Britney's Womanizer blasting atop the loudspeakers. To sum it up: fun but incongruent.
