fangsaugust 15, 2011 6:13pmHorror Show Jack
I had my first pair from another vendor until I accidentally (a.k.a. drunkenly) fell asleep with them in my mouth and woke up to find them broke. I was EXCITED to find HSJ at the very next con I attended! I love the look, and the color match is great, they don't feel as tight as my first pair, but they have survived some heavy-duty make-out sessions, so I'm not as worried about them as I initially was.

I have gotten some amazing compliments on these as well!

Thanks!

I got a pair of fangs from David at ChateauGrrr's big bash back in October of 2009. Even in the dimly lit bar, David did an amazing job of matching my tooth color and the fit is amazing. I totally LOVE them, as does everyone else who sees me with them! I can't tell you how many times I've worn them already, and I love t he ease of popping them in and out on a whim!

Many thanks to both David and ChateauGrrr for turning me into a monster!
movie reviewsmarch 11, 2010 6:23pmThe Wolfman
Unfortunately, I had just viewed the 1941 version of Wolfman a few days prior to viewing this latest re-telling of the story. Although the stories have the same premise and set of characters, there are quite a few key plot variants, which can be likened taking your favorite room at home and throwing up a fresh coat of paint and maybe adding a new end table. I think everyone knows the basics of the Wolfman story, so I will not dwell much on that, and I will do my best to keep from using the original as a point of comparison.

Overall, I enjoyed the film for what it was… strictly entertainment. Aside from the effects seeming slightly lackluster, the allure and sex-appeal of the legend (or what some believe to be only a myth) of the werewolf completely suck you in, and the film is a wonderful piece of eye candy: great-looking cast, stunning costumes, and beautifully shot scenes. As far as getting swept into story and the character's lives I couldn't help but feel a little lost at times -- occasionally hoping to run into the old gypsy woman who could point me in the right direction.

The two characters who stand out most for me are Lawrence Talbot (Benicio Del Toro) and Abberline (Hugo Weaving) mainly due to their character development and the passion oozing from their scenes --and not just from their on-screen presence in general. Early in the film, Del Toro does a wonderful job of portraying the estranged son, where he not only looks uncomfortable or a bit out of sorts in certain scenes, especially in his own home, but it’s almost to the point where he even looks a bit uneasy in front of the cameras. As the story progresses, his emotions -- the immediate confusion and eventual acceptance of the situation at hand -- are very real and relatable. While Weaving may not have an abundance of screen time, he definitely makes the most of it – his strength, understanding and determination definitely unfolding with the plot.

This next statement will seem like blasphemy to some, but I felt as if Sir John Talbot’s shoes could have been filled by any number of actors besides Anthony Hopkins. I understand where his emotions (or lack thereof) are coming from based on the story at hand, but other than the ending, I was not drawn to his performance at all. Perhaps it is something he does so well or so often, that it doesn’t seem like any amazing bag of tricks for me?

I definitely feel it is worth a big screen viewing, as it would be easier to be lost in the world created onscreen (great eye candy and entertainment), but I don’t feel you should expect to have your socks blown off your feet.
